Most specialist League of Legends regional leagues began in mid-January and generated stable viewership throughout the entire year. Riot Games reported viewership by hours saw because of its Los Angeles-based League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) increased by 30 percent for the entire spring split season compared to LoL accounts last year, while viewership by hours saw for its Berlin-based League of Legends European Championship (LEC) climbed by more than 40 percent year-over-year.
An early start into its 2021 aggressive year helped Counter-Strike: Global Offensive secure the Impact Index rank 2 just like last year. Throughout the quarter, more than 80 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournaments were held along with $3.6M was dispersed in prize pools. The game's aggressive season has been kicked off with the 1M BLAST Premier: Global Founded in January won by Natus Vincere and the $1M Intel Extreme Experts XV -- World Championship in February won by Gambit.
Spotify is adding a weekly news series about League of Legends esports to its roster of Spotify Original podcasts. The show, Rift Reaction, is set for a 40-episode series and will be hosted by esports content creator and writer Travis Gafford and League of Legends Championship Series analyst Emily Rand.
The podcast is the latest in Spotify and cheap LoL smurf accounts League of Legends developer Riot Games' multiyear partnership that has been announced in August, which so far also comprises League of Legends-themed playlists and yet another Spotify Original series which resulted in last year's League of Legends esports world championship.
